Evaluating Expressions Board Game!

We have worked with expressions for the last few days. Today we will improve our skill on evaluating expressions. After
everyone has written an expression, we will use that to make it into a board game and play it!

Coefficient: number in front of the variable.

Term: Single number or variable, or numbers with variables

A.) What is the coefficient of the following expression? Write the answer on the blank line.

__________
b. -2x 5
__________
Activity:
First, come up with two expressions The expression must have a coefficient that is either 1, 2, or 3. The terms without a
variable must be between -5 and 5. (ex: -2x + 3, 1x - 1). Use x as the variable!

Before you proceed, evaluate the following expression, given x = 3. Show your work!
a.) 3x 6

b.) -2x + 2

c.) x 8

After getting your expressions approved, write the expressions on construction paper.
Then, you will put the construction paper on a piece of tape that is out on the hall. You can place it on any tape.
When all students place their expressions on a piece of tape, the board game will start.
Rules for the board game:
1.) Roll the die and plug it into the expression. This will determine how many steps you will go. If your answer
is negative, you must go backwards.
2.) Two or more players can be on the same space.
3.) Continue to play until someone reaches the Goal finish line.
