Answer the following questions.
Write your answer in your answer
sheet.
I. What are the first five multiples:
1. 4 _____, _____, _____, _____, _____
2. 7 _____, _____, _____, _____, _____
3. 8 _____, _____, _____, _____, _____
II. What is the common
difference of the following
sequence:
4. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
5. 16,19, 22, 25
If you are given the following
sequences:
3, 6, 9, 12
2,5,8,11…
1,4,9,16…
What rules can you formulate to find
the nth term of each
sequence?
A sequence is a set of numbers written
in order by the application of a definite
rule. Each number in the sequence is
called a term.
Following certain patterns can help us
formulate rules and continue a given
sequence of numbers, figures or to fill in
the missing numbers or symbols.
Write the rule to find the nth term of the given
sequence. Supply the next three terms after.
Supply the m missing terms to complete
the given sequences and find the
nth term. Write your answer on a
separate answer sheet. Answer 1-4 only.
To formulate the rule in finding the
nth term of a sequence, we can
look for:
a pattern,
work backwards, and
guess and check strategies.
A. Study the following sequences below.
Write the rule describing each sequence.
B. Find the next three terms in each
item below.
6. 5, 7, 9, 11, ____, ____, ____
7. 15, 18, 21, 24, ____, ____, ____
8. 3, 8, 18, 38, ____, ____, ____
9. 7, 10, 13, 16, ____, ____, ____
10.18, 27, 36, 45, ____, ____, ____

What is a
sequence?
A sequence is a set of
numbers written in order
by the application of a
definite rule.
The following illustrations are
examples of patterns:
Everyday we can see many
patterns. Patterns are repetitive
sequences and can be found in
nature, shapes, events, sets of
numbers and almost everywhere
you care to look.
One of the most famous patterns
in numbers is the Fibonacci
sequence. The Fibonacci Sequence
is a special series of numbers
made by Leonardo Pisano
Bigollo, also known as Leonardo
Fibonacci.
In Fibonacci sequence, the next
number is formed by adding the
two numbers before it.
Another pattern in number
sequence is called arithmetic
sequence.
It is a sequence of numbers where
the difference between the
consecutive numbers is constant.
The behavior of the arithmetic
progression depends on the
common difference (d)
To find the rule for the nth term in an
arithmetic sequence, you may consider these
steps:

a. Make a table with 5 columns and write

the position of the terms 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and
so on in the first column.
b. Put the terms in the second column
according to their order in the sequence.
c. Find the common difference and write it
on the third column.
d. Multiply the common difference with the
numbers in the first column,
then indicate the product on the 4th column.
e. Write the difference of the term
subtracted by the n number in the fifth
column.
Example 2:
Find the rule for the nth term of the following
sequence:
5, 8, 11, 14, 17…
The rule for finding the nth
term of the given sequence is
nth = 3n + 2
Supply the m missing terms
to complete the given
sequences and find the
nth term. Write your answer
on a separate answer sheet.

What is The Fibonacci

Sequence?
The Fibonacci Sequence isa

Find the next three terms
in each sequence then
writethe rule for finding the
nth term. Write your
answer on a separate
sheet of paper.
If a sequence of values follows a
pattern by multiplying each term by
a fixed amount (non-zero), it is
referred to as a geometric
sequence.

Write your answer and solution on a

mother’s treat for your hard work on
your studies, she decided to increase
your monthly school allowance. On the
first month, she gave you ₱500.00,
₱575.00 on the second month, ₱650.00
on the third month and so on.
If you continue to do well on your
schooling, how much allowance
will you receive on the seventh
month? What will you do to
maintain your good academic
performance?
What is a geometric
sequence?
If a sequence of values follows
a pattern by multiplying each
term by a fixed amount (non-
zero), it is referred to as a
geometric sequence.
Complete the table below by
supplying the missing term,
common difference and rule
for each number sequence.

words.
Algebra is a branch of mathematics
dealing with symbols and the rules for
manipulating those symbols. In studying
algebra, two of the most frequently used
words are expressions and equations. In
this lesson, you will learn how to
differentiate each of them.
Both expressions and
equations can have numbers
and variables,
but there is one key difference.
An expression involves numbers,
variables, or a combination of
both. It is a mathematical
phrase that DOES NOT contain
Examples of expression:
2x – 4
2m³ + 5m
a+b+c

Seven less than half a number

number and five
An equation is any statement that has an
equal sign or its equivalent. Words such as
equals, is, are, were, was, is, is equal to,
and
result is can be used in place of the (=)
symbol.

Examples of equation:
4n + 7 = 11
b–2=3
x + y + z = 187
Twice a number increased by
four is ten.
The difference of a number and
two is five.
Ask:

1. Can you give examples of An expression

based on the definition that we learned?
2. Give examples and write it on the board.
3. Give examples of equation then write on
the board.

needed. Give compliments.
Tell whether the following is

equation. Write your answer

paper.
