Week 3.

Lesson Plan
Teacher : Volkan Kaya
Lesson Plan #3
Date: May 10, 2015
Grade: 8th grade
Topic: Area and Perimeter
Main Goal: Area and perimeter are two important and fundamental parts of
mathematics. The unit and topics of area and perimeter are important to
mathematics because they are the physical aspects of mathematics. They are the
foundation for understanding other aspects of geometry such as volume and
mathematical theorems that help us understand algebra, trigonometry, and
calculus.

ASSURE MODEL

Analyze learners: Since Math builds upon itself, it is important for students to learn
about area and perimeter. Learning about area and perimeter will give the students
a chance to use math that real people need and use outside of school.

Students will be able to;

1-understand and draw two-dimensional shapes

2-communicate logical arguments about geometry

3-and compute distances and lengths

The use of technology such as;

1-Computers with Internet for interactive practice

2-Overhead projector to solve and present Geometry questions

3-A video clip of the other possible explanations from web

Require Learner Participation;

Involve students in the class problem solving by letting them explore the sounds on
their own.

Hands on activities where they can not only learn how to solve questions but as well
show their physically explanation their results.

Evaluate and revise;

Were the students able to identify differences of shapes?

Where students able to recognize the initial similarities of perimeters?

Did students confuse any comparable figures calculations such rectangle and
square?

Were students able to create their own questions?

Were students able to find each others errors?
