Dear Colleague,

Education is a
precondition to
survival in America
today.
Marian Wright
Edelman (1939 -)

On behalf of the Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable, I respectfully request that you consider
supporting our seventh professional conference this August, 2015. The conference, Its A New
Day: Growing in the Midst of Change will be held on Monday, August 3rd and Tuesday,
August 4th at St. Josephs University, 5600 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131.
Our goals for this years conference are to continue to strengthen the college access and success
community by providing quality professional development to those who provide college
preparation services as well as center the Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable as a viable and
useful resource to students, schools, and programs.
The Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable (PCPR) is a network of professionals from nonprofit and campus-based college prep programs, university admissions and financial aid offices,
and the School District of Philadelphia. PCPR exists to increase the number of Philadelphia
area high school students who are college-ready, matriculate and graduate from post-secondary
institutions.
Seventy percent (70%) of new jobs, especially those that pay a family- sustaining wage, require
a postsecondary degree (Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board). With this in mind, the
advancement of all Philadelphia public school students, even in the face of budget cuts and a
change of leadership, continues to be one of the most significant pieces of work and an
important goal to achieve.
Past conferences have boasted just over 200 participants and were considered a true success.
Overwhelmingly, participants felt that the conference provided limitless opportunities to
network and learn from one another. This years conference aims to build upon our previous
success and we look forward to engaging the higher education community as well as build
bridges between professionals to increase effective professional practice and resources.
We welcome you to review the enclosed the Exhibitor/Sponsorship information but do not
hesitate to contact me directly by telephone at 484-843-1153 or e-mail at
