POLICY:
It is the policy of TUI HOTELS to plan the most efficient use of energy initially, and subsequently
to manage the systems supplied to provide the essential services and environmental conditions at
minimum cost.

PROCEDURE:
This procedure establishes the guidelines concerning the engineering and electrical design, which
should consider from inception that most suitable fuels for the particular hotel or parts thereof are
to be planned - even by considering alternatives to otherwise obvious sources such as city steam
or hot water.
The following techniques should be examined and considered:

Combined heat and power systems (co-generation of electricity)

The use of heat pumps for the economic conversion of energy from water or air to water
or air.
Heat/cold exchange systems
Hot/cold storage systems
Heat recovery systems
Solar Systems

For purposes of energy management control, every system must be capable of being
pre-planned/pre-set according to the foreseen needs of the business.
Peak load shedding by agreed priorities must be planned into the electrical distribution network
(maximum demand plant control).
Energy saving lighting to be planned in every area; standard tungsten lighting will only be installed
by agreed exception.
