When | first met Wes, he was part of team of teachers who was leading the transition to Common Core State Standards. Over the years, he has blossomed in his role as a Grade Level Chairperson and school-wide STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) coordinator. Many have supported Wes on a myriad of topics; his educational leadership has been celebrated by our ‘community. As 2 grade level chairperson, Wes serves an member of the school improvement team. His cross curricular insights support monitoring and developing next steps. Mr. Emiet focuses in on the root cause of the problem. Once that is done, Wes analyzes and critically thinks solutions. Wesley is focused on student achievement. This sets him apart from the rest. Mr. Emlet enjoys the collaborative process. | can remember on several occasions were Wes goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that staff, students and parents worked. Towards that end, Wes has, made STEAM Night the highlight of the year. Students and parents build bridges and other structures; while, staff use theatrical performances and scientific drawings to connect the arts to science and. ‘mathematics. Mr. Emlet is organized, prepared and makes each event a leaming party. | can truly say that Wes is a team player. Finally, upon meeting with Mr, Wesley Emlet, right away you will know that he is devoted, driven, and dedicated. You will also see why he was our nominee for Maryland State Department of Education ‘Teacher of the Year. Wes has my full support behind any future endeavors.
