FOR CHILDREN
Eventhoughthemedicationhelpsthechildstayfocused,medicineisnotalways
theanswer,alwaysbeingmedicatedcanruinthechildoradultslifebecausethe
sideeffects,longtermeffectsandtheeffectsofthemedicationoncethechild
reachesmaturityoradulthoodcanbelifethreatening.
I. What are the side effects of the ADHD medication?
A

Loss of appetite, sleep problems, nausea, mood swings, weight loss, and

irritability.

The researchers concluded that the patients who had major side

effects already had heart problems to begin with.

II. What are the long term effects of the medication?


A

The children experience slow growth.

Children do not grow as tall as their peers.

Parents worry that the medication might not be worth it.

Exposure to drugs could lead to later casual illegal drug use.

Studies have shown that patients with ADHD become illegal drug

users.

III. How does the medication effect children of different ages?


A

children of the ages five to seven have a low self-esteem, children of the

ages eight to eleven experienced disruptive behavior, and teenagers of the ages
thirteen to an adult lack of motivation and school exclusion

This also led to drug use for the adults.

When an adult has ADHD their life is unstable.

The adult cannot keep a job to do being distracted.

The adult does not find motivation to work.

In conclusion, medicine is not always the answer. Always being medicated can ruin the

child or adults life.
