1. What is art?
Art is a diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities,
usually involving imaginative or technical skill. In their most general form
these activities include the production of works of art, the criticism of art, the
study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art. This article
focuses primarily on the visual arts, which includes the creation of images or
objects in fields including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and
other visual media.
2. What are the branches of Art?
Art has two broad branches which include Liberal Art and Creative Art. Liberal
Art includes the subjects in the humanities and social sciences examples
religion, languages, history etc.
Creative Art has two branches which include theatre art and visual or plastic
art.
Under visual art we have performing art, literary art and language art.
Under visual art we have fine art and applied art. e.g. of fine art includes
drawing, painting, sculpture and architecture. e.g of applied art includes
textiles, graphics, pottery/ceramics and crafts.
Examples of performing art include dance, drama and music.
Examples of literary art include poems, essays and novels while examples of
language art include spelling and oration.
