Sample Health Mini Lessons

The following 3 lessons are not consecutive due to different topics. Each lesson is one
period in length

#1 Technology Used: QR Reader


Lesson: Drug Introduction (Day 1)
Subject/Grade: 8th grade Health
Objectives: Students will explore the different affects drugs have on the body through an
interactive website.
Technology Standards:
#3. Research and information fluency
b. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information
from a variety of sources and media.
c. Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the
appropriateness to specific tasks.

Activity: Students will be allowed to use Smart technology to navigate through an


interactive QR Scavenger Hunt. Students will read a variety of different articles, fact
pages and participate in several games and activities all based around the negative
affects drugs have on the body. Students will have to write the answers down on the
guided worksheet, and complete a refection summarizing their experience. Extension
activities will also be given.

#2 Technology Used: Kahoot


Lesson: Sexual Education Review (Day 15)
Subject/Grade: 7th grade Health
Objective: Students will review the information in the Sexuality Unit by playing a
dynamic, interactive game.
Technology Standards:
#2: Communication and Collaboration
c. Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a
variety of media and formats.
Activity: Students will go onto Kahoot.it and enter a log in number that will be
associated with the Kahoot game the teacher has created. Following the instructions

given by the teacher, students will use their computers to anonymously compete
against one another in a competitive review game.

#3 Technology Used: Prezi


Lesson: Sexuality Unit Contraception (Day 12)
Subject/Grade: 7th Grade Health
Objectives: Students will compare and identify the different forms of contraception by
navigating through an engaging Prezi presentation.
Technology Standards:
#1: Creativity and Innovation
c. Use Models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues.

Activity: As part of the Health curriculum students will fill in a guided note sheet based
on the engaging, visual information students will receive from the Contraception Prezi.
As the teacher goes through the Prezi with the students, examples will be shown as well
as fun facts shared and questions answered. As an extension, students will be offered
to make a Prezi reviewing the information of the Unit.
