CONNECTING THE DOTS ON DAVID:
This week we will hear II Samuel, 13:1-34a. To connect with August 16, there is a heavy reading load. Please
read II Samuel 13:34b-1Kings 2:9. On Sundays (except morning prayer Sundays) I will make myself available
in the Sanctuary beginning at 9:15 should you have questions or wish to discuss the passages you have read.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
As requested, Prayer Request Cards are now on hooks in the pews, as well as on the table at the back of the
nave.
ALTAR FLOWERS:
Have a special event, birthday, anniversary or graduation you wish to mark? The Altar Flower sign-up sheet
is located on the table in the Narthex. A new sign-up sheet was added for August through October.
COFFEE HOUR SIGN UP:
A Coffee Hour sign-up sheet is now available on the ECW bulletin board for August-December services.
Anyone is welcome to host or co-host a coffee hour and the items offered to supplement coffee and juice can be
as simple or fancy as the host/hostess would like. It is always fun to buddy up and have someone host with
you. Please sign up if you are interested and ask Tracy, Leslie or Muffet for more information if needed.
SUNDAY SCHOOL will begin on September 20th. There will be a second Sunday School parents meeting in
the Undercroft on Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. Our goal will be to decide on a plan for lessons,
teachers and child care to begin the new year. Please take a look at the Rotation.org church school site on the
Internet.
Looking for Legos
Parishioners, as you do fall shopping, keep the Sunday School in mind. We need an infusion of colored pencils,
colorful washable markers, washable craft paints, brushes, glitter, colored paper of all kinds and above all
Legos of all sizes, shapes and colors, not the building kits. Many thanks for your help! Barbara Clark

Open House:
The Alcyon Center, situated above beautiful Seal Cove on MDI, invites you to an Open House
August 19th, 5-7 pm. The Center is an experience of being welcomed, body, soul and spirit into the life of a
small, practicing contemplative community. The Open House will include tours of the main house and
grounds, an opportunity to speak with the directors and board members while enjoying light refreshments
and herbal teas. If interested in attending, please respond either to office@alcyoncenter.org or call (207) 2441060; directions to the event can be obtained by contacting either the email or telephone number noted above.
A turkey dinner to benefit Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry will be held on Friday, August 21 from 5:307PM at St Andrew Lutheran Church (175 Downeast Hwy). There is no set fee. Give as you are able.
Loaves And Fishes Needs Your Egg Cartons!
Please save and recycle your empty egg cartons and plastic shopping bags by bringing them to the church and
placing them in the "Little Red Wagon" or taking them directly to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry. Many
thanks!
