(August 17, 2014) Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Everyone tried to dismiss her, but the woman in todays gospel would not go away. Her persistence resulted in her daughters cure. Persistence is a virtue of parenting. We must persist in teaching our children, advocating for them, being models for them and loving them. Parenting is a lifetime career. 320 Holy Hours were kept with Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration last week. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration gives tone to a parish a feeling of reverence and awe, a feeling that here at St Augustine, the Lord is at home. Eucharistic Adoration is the heart of the parish. Everyone is welcome! Our newest Adorer just turned 16!! We are in desperate need of an adorer on Monday mornings from 2-3 am anyone interested please contact Judy at 330-212-0926.
Coffee and Donuts will soon begin again for the season. We are currently looking for additional volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up afterwards. Hosts/Hostess serve on a rotating basis. Anyone interested please contact Barb Vargo at 330-745-5805

We are only seven days away from the Parishes biggest celebration the St. Augustine Hoe Down, Sunday, August 24 beginning with the 10:30 Mass. Come and enjoy great food, music, dancing, games for the children, a corn hole tournament, knock out and much more. Dont miss out on the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket or two with the grand prize of $5000 at stake. Hoe-Down tee shirts are available for purchase for only $8.00 each, show your support by wearing your tee the day of the picnic. Pick up your shirts at the rectory this week during regular business hours, after Masses this weekend and during the picnic. Get yours while supplies last.
Attention Bakers of the Parish: Again this year we will have the infamous dessert table at the parish picnic. We are asking for a batch or two of your favorite baked goods for all to enjoy. Goodies can be brought to the rectory during the week from 8:30-4:30, Saturday in the school following the 4:00pm Mass. Items can be brought in bulk, we will plate them for the picnic. Happy Baking! There will be an Inquiry Night for the RCIA Monday, August 25 at 7:00 pm in the Rectory Meeting Room. RCIA NEEDS: The RCIA begins a new year of sessions on Monday, September 8. We meet almost every week through the end of April. As part of St. Augustine hospitality, refreshments are served. The team provides the beverages and paper products. We try not to ask those attending to bring goodies, at least through December. Therefore, would you be willing to provide a snack one week? Anyone in need of physical, emotional and spiritual healing is invited to attend. If you know someone in need of this healing sacrament, please feel free to invite them to this special Mass
St. Augustine Preschool is well and flourishing! We are now enrolling for the fall semester for our Toddler, Preschool, Pre K and Latchkey Programs. Classes are offered Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Registration options are for 4-5 days (full-time) or 2-3 days (part-time). Additionally, a Preschool and Pre-K half day program, which runs from 7:45 am to 11:30 am, is also available. The Latchkey Program is available for children attending Kindergarten through 5 th grade before and after school as well as any days the Preschool is open and the Grade Schools are not. Financial aid is available through the Summit County Jobs and Family Services Title XX program for those who qualify. Feel free to call and schedule a tour to view the school, meet the teachers and observe the classrooms. Our Open House is Sunday, August 24, from 11:30 to 1:00 in conjunction with the Parish Picnic. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year and we hope to see you soon! If a child is going into the first grade, and not attending a Catholic School or was in a Catholic school and is no longer attending, you are able to register for PSR. If you have not received a registration form in the mail, or are interested in registering a new child/children, or would like to volunteer, please contact Renee Barker at 330-745-1080.
