Sports
Sports are amazing things. The excitement. The sweetness of victory the
bitterness of defeat. The feeling of competition in the air. And the roar of the crowd
to get the adrenaline pumping. There in truly nothing quite like it.
Sports help us to learn many great things. They help us to build character,
help us to become healthier, and teach us to be more adaptable throughout tough
times
Sports help us to build ourselves as individuals. M.S. Omar-Fauzee e.g. al talk
about this as well as good strategies for this in their article The Strategies for
Character Building through Sports Participation published in the International Journal
of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences in the month of March 2012.
The Authors talk a lot about how when you play sports it actually keeps you from
dropping out of school and developing the good traits that help you to become a
better person throughout your life. M.S. Omar-Fauzee e.g. al give som statistics that
show that the moral character of most student athletes is still very much intact.
Another Benefit to playing sports is that it helps us to be healthier. In the
article Football Fans in Training: the development and optimization of an
intervention delivered through professional sports clubs to help men lose weight,
become more active and adopt healthier eating habits by Cindy M. Gray e.g. al,

Published in the BMC Public health on March 16 2013, Gives us a little more incite as
to how. The Authors talked a lot about a study they did on football fans. The authors
put them through an exercise routine and showed them how to live healthier
lifestyles. The participants seemed to get a lot out of it as they went through the
experience.
In sports adversity happens all the time. The opponent is throwing everything
they have at you. You could be down. In this way sports help us to handle adversity
both in the sport and in life. In the article Helping Coaches Meet Their Own Needs:
Challenges for the Sport Psychology Consultant By Burt Giges and Albert J. Petitpas
and Ralph A. Vernacchia published in the Sports Psychologist in 2004 they talk
about how coaches have problems to deal with. The authors have a lot of examples
and how best Sport Psychologist Consultants can best help them.
Some people would argue that sports are not as good of a thing because it does
cause you to have some long-term damage in your body. This is true. However,
every occupation has its drawbacks. The pros definitely outweigh this argument.
Long-term damage is something that anyone who exercises a lot has to deal with. It
is part of life.
Sports are worth the time and effort that has to be put into them. They can be
very trying at times, but in the end they are all worth it.
