Module 3.0
Dietary Research Project
Written Report
Each student will complete a report/presentation on their assigned
diet. This report will count as 75% of the total project grade
(which counts as a test grade). The project is due on the
Presentation Day as listed on the course calendar. If it is not turned
in before you give your presentation you will not received credit
for the project. You will be graded on the following criteria.
15 points

One-day Menu (Turn in report)


Use the Suggested Meal Plan format located on the OLC.
Be sure to include: (3 pts each)
Snacks
Size of Serving
Dietary values for each food item as it relates to your diet
(for example 2 gram sodium diet should have the sodium levels
listed for each food. All diets should have the calories, carbs,
proteins, and fats listed for each food item).
Includes optional choices for each meal and snack
Does not include any restricted foods

20 points

Written Report
Include the following: (2.5 pts each)

Name of diet

Brief description of disease/condition prescribed for and


how the diet assists in the treatment of the patient with this diet.

Foods allowed

Foods restricted

Special nursing interventions r/t this diet

Routinely monitored lab work and/or diagnostic studies r/t


this diet. (example: serum potassium, bone density scan, etc.)

Possible Food/Drug interactions

Patient teaching information

References correctly sited (see info sheet)

10 points

References (Bibliography format)
