City of Las Vegas Sponsors Water Safety Event

Event will be held to teach water safety skills to the public
A water safety event will be held on the second Sunday in May to help teach
water safety skills to the public.
The event is free and will feature courses on floating and safety information
taught by lifeguards. Children will have the opportunity to sing, dance, play games and
win prizes. Teens and adults are also invited. Local celebrities, Television personalities
and local mascots will attend.
The event will be held at Municipal Pool, 431 East Bonanza Road, from 12 p.m.
until 4 p.m.
Sponsors of the event include: The City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure
Services, Southern Nevada Chapter of the Red Cross, and Paragon Pools.
"Children have a natural attraction to water. Understanding that attraction is an
important aspect in teaching parents and children safe ways to interact in and around
bodies of water, said Scott Irvine, Aquatic Coordinator at Las Vegas Department of
Leisure Services.
This event was first held last year and proved to be successful, over 300 people
attended.
