Program Summary
CARE Station
Community After-Care Experience is a program that runs from the beginning
of the school year till the end of the school year. It follows the school calendar when
schools are closed the program is closed. The program provides academic support
(homework), snack time and recreational opportunities that may include physical and
occupational therapy (program based on an evaluation of our population by the
therapists who will then design a program for our students), karate and yoga all
dependent on budgetary constraints. It is held at Carteret elementary school from 3:30
pm until 6:00 pm. Since we follow the school calendar the cost varies monthly
depending on the number of days the program meets.
Horizons
This program is for adults 18 and older and is a community outreach program.
It also follows the school calendar and distribute its own calendar of activities on a
monthly basis. Activities include night at the races, movie night, dinner, theatrical
plays and bowling to name a few all activities encourages life skills. There is a $50
registration fee plus the cost of each activity. It meets Friday nights from
approximately 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm dependent on the activity. Transportation is not
provided.
Friday Night Canteen
This program is for children under 18 and is more of an open-gym
environment where student are allowed to participate in supervised free play in the
gymnasium at Carteret Elementary School. Again we follow the school calendar and
this program meets on Friday Night from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm registration fee is $50
plus any additional trips that may be planned.
