Classroom Rules and Behavioral Expectations:

Students are expected to assist in maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. To assure all students have
the opportunity to gain from time spent in class, students are prohibited from engaging in any form of distraction. Inappropriate
behavior in the classroom shall result, minimally, in disciplinary action.
It is important to follow all school rules!
1. Come to class every day that you are able.
2. Arrive on time with your own supplies and be ready to participate.
3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4. Follow directions the first time.
5. Stay on task during all work times.
6. Limit talking.
7. Be courteous to me and to your classmates.

Grading Policy:
Assignments/Homework 20%, Quizzes 30%, Tests 50%
Necessary work must be shown IN PENCIL on all assignments, quizzes, and tests. The NEISD academic honesty policy will be
enforced.

Organization:
It is expected that students organize all notes, assignments, quizzes, and tests. Students are required to take notes and copy
examples of problems that are worked in class. Students should keep all notes and completed/graded work until the end of the
semester. At that point, students may choose to store their papers somewhere safe for further use or to recycle them.

Activities:
Students will participate and strive to be champions. The CHAMPs (Conversations, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation)
approach to classroom management will teach students exactly what is expected during each type of classroom activity.

Assignments:
Assignments (classwork or homework) will be given at every class meeting. Some assignments will be out of the textbook.
Assignments must be completed and necessary work must be shown IN PENCIL or no credit will be given. It is expected that all
assignments will be done in a timely manner. The district policy regarding late work will be adhered to in this class. Students will
have an opportunity to complete late assignments with a 20% penalty, provided the late work is turned in prior to the unit test or
before the end of each nine-week grading period. Students should keep all assignments until the end of the semester. Extra credit
will NOT be given.

Quizzes:
Quizzes can be given at any time during any class period. They may or may not be announced and will cover material from previous
assignments. Quizzes must be turned in within the class period. There will be NO retakes/corrections offered. Students should
keep all quizzes until the end of the semester. Note binder quizzes will be give periodically.

Tests/Retest:
Tests will be announced in advance. At least three tests will be given every 9 weeks. The district policy regarding retesting will be
adhered to in this class. Any student who receives a failing grade on a test will have a time period of 5 school days from the time the
test is returned in which to complete test corrections and take a retest. Retests will be completed during tutoring hours and the
maximum grade for a retest will be a 70. Students should keep all tests until the end of the semester.

Tutoring:
Tutoring will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays before school from 8:00 8:35. Students may choose to
attend tutoring with any available math teacher. The tutoring schedule is posted outside my classroom door and on my web page.

Progress Reports & Parent Portal:

District generated progress reports will be sent home twice during each grading period. Please check the parent portal on the
internet to review your childs grade. Go to www.neisd.net for sign-up information.

Communication:
Parent-teacher communication is vital for the success of your student. Email is preferable. Please put your childs name and period
in the subject line. You can reach me at: rsalin7@neisd.net. I am available for face-to-face conferences during 6th period. Please
allow for 24 hours notice prior to any conference. The parent portal allows for teachers to send bulk emails. I will take advantage of
this as much as possible. Please visit my web page at http://reagansalinas.weebly.com/ for all these policies and other important
information.

Students Responsibilities After an Absence:

Any student returning from an absence is responsible for getting missed work from me. The NEISD policy for makeup work will be
adhered to in this class.

Student Passes:
Please take care of water and restroom breaks before coming to class. If an emergency arises, you may request permission to leave
class, but please exercise good judgment and be sensible when making requests to leave during class. It is up to the teachers
discretion whether permission will be given.

Consequences for Classroom Rule Violations:

If a student violates a rule, he/she may be assigned a consequence. Depending on the frequency and severity of the misbehavior,
students may receive one or more of the following consequences:
1. Parental Contact
2. Loss of privileges
3. Change in seating assignment
4. Confiscation of prohibited item
5. Detention
6. Office referral

Consequences for Code of Conduct Violations:

If a student breaks a rule that is covered in the student handbook, I must refer the situation to the office for the administrator to
make decisions on parent contacts, police involvement, and other matters.
