GAIL (India) Limited is the largest state-

owned natural gas processing and distribution

company in India.
Its headquartered in New Delhi.
It has following business segments: Natural
Gas, Liquid Hydrocarbon, Liquefied petroleum
gas transmission.
GAIL has been listed in the 131st position
among India's Most Trusted brands according
to the Brand Trust Report 2014, a study
conducted by Trust.

MEANING OF CSR
Corporate Social Responsibility is the

continuing commitment by business to behave

ethically and contribute to economic
development while improving the quality of life
of the workforce and their families as well as of
the local community and society at large.
My own definition is that CSR is about
how companies manage the business
processes to produce an overall positive
impact on society.

SANITATION
GAIL has undertaken

various projects for

installation of bore-wells,
tube-wells, hand-pumps.
GAIL promotes public
and personal hygiene,
facilitates construction of
individual and
community toilet units
on household level,
village level, schools and
Aanganwadis.

LITERACY ENHANCEMENT &

EMPOWERMENT
GAIL undertaken such as

school dropout rate, literacy

rate, education for out of
school children, equipment
and infrastructure for
schools.
Literacy, helps government
schools to develop
infrastructure in the form of
construction of school
buildings, college building
class rooms, laboratories,
libraries, smart classes,
school bus.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Projects related to Rain

water harvesting, water

recharging, Ground
water reuse systems,
Provision of Bio-Gas
Stoves have been
widely supported by
GAIL.
Also, by recyclereduce- reuse GAIL is
able to bring down its
GHG emissions.

INFRASTRUCTURE
These include projects

improving connectivity
between villages and
towns and cities through
construction of village
approach roads, village
adoption programmes,
construction of
community centres,
community toilets,
Aanganwadi buildings
etc.

HEALTH CARE &

MEDICINE
GAIL has supported

numerous medical/ Health

outreach camps in rural
areas, Eye Screening &
spectacle distribution
Camps.
. GAIL also endeavours to
strengthen the healthcare
infrastructure and services
by provision of ambulances,
diagnostic equipment and
construction of hospitals/
speciality wards etc.

CONCLUSION
The constantly challenging goal is to

ensure that responsible business is

integrated and embedded in the decision
making culture rather than confined to a
progressive individual, area or division.
