Setting your computer up to monitor sound using OSC251

1550(2000model),2230(late 2000), 1710(2001)1800(2002)

You have to tell your computer which sound it is going to display on the OSC251
You can select from four sources of sound:
1. Microphone.
2. Mixer or Stero mix(2002 model) (This is any sound file that is stored on your hard drive)
3. Line in(1550only): (That is anything you plug into the socket next to the microphone socket-like a
walkman)
4. CD (player-your CD-ROM drive)
To make your selection:
1. Double click on speaker in task bar-at bottom of your screen. If the speaker icon is not there go to:
StartSettingsControl PanelMultimediatick (Show vol on task bar)OK
2. This will open VOLUME CONTROL
From this display select from the menu:
OptionsProperties Recordingmake sure all the boxes are ticked OK.
Should look like:

2. Select(tick) the item you want to see the waveform from-only one can be selected at at time.(Mic
or /Mixer is what youll be using)
3. If it is the microphone, make sure the volume slider is raised all the way.

4. When selecting /mixer put slider at lowest position or a feedback type effect may occur.
Finally:
1.Open OSC251(Winscope) then
2. Press play on the OSC control(a horizontal line should appear on the screen).

3. Start your sound file or speak into the microphone. A waveform should appear!
4. OSC will probably crash if you have a sound file playing before you open it.
See the word fileosc3.doc or printouts for further instructions on how to use OSC251
Good luck.
