Sustrans I Bike Festival Event

Kinnaird Cycling Day: 8th September

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your childs school is part of I Bike, a new and dynamic Sustrans cycling project. Sustrans
has been working directly with Kinnaird Primary School to encourage and support safe
cycling to and from school. Sustrans is the UK's leading Sustainable Transport Charity
whose vision is a future in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and
the environment. Its mission is to provide practical but imaginative solutions to some of the
biggest transport challenges facing us all.
To kickstart the beginning of term we are encouraging pupils to participate in the Kinnaird
Cycling Day as part of the I Bike Festival on Tuesday 8th September. Pupils who bring their
bikes (or scooters) to school will be able to take part in fun activities throughout the day. The
activities include a bike breakfast, bicycle obstacle course and walks around the school.
As the activities will include a number of outdoor activities we suggest pupils bring outdoor
clothing with them to school and, if they are bringing a bike, to bring a lock for the
playground.
We advise that pupils must wear helmets and pupils who have not received road safety
training are accompanied by an adult for the cycle to school.
We look forward to working with Kinnaird Primary School over the coming year.
Yours sincerely,
Niamh Allum
