 ATLATL
The Atlatl is a tool used to throw spears and darts
at a fast speed. The device can throw darts very
far, up to 100 meters! The Mayans used this tool
to kill animals and also in battles against their
enemies. You would not want to be hit with a
dart or spear being thrown from this device!
MAQUAHUITL
The Maquahuitl is a club used by the Mayan people as
a combat weapon. The club is shaped like a wooden
sword with blades placed on each side. The weapon
is very heavy and hard to lift, but very effective in
a fight. The blades of the Maquahuitl are said to be
sharp enough to cut a person’s head off! OUCH!!!
SICKLE
The sickle is a tool for farming, but was also
used by the Mayans as a weapon. The main use
for the sickle was for cutting grass, but it was
also used in battle. The inside part of the blade
was very sharp for swinging into whatever was
being cut. Make sure your not standing in tall
grass when someone is holding one of these!
