Category: Summarizing and Note Taking

Tite: #23 Providing outline of reading or lecture to students

Time Needed: Varied
Room Arrangement: No Change Needed
Materials: Prepared Outlines, pencils, textbooks
Process/Directions: Hand out outlines that are prepared from text or lecture. Tell students that
you have prepared them to help them understand the content and to study for an assessment or
reach the learning targets. While you are lecturing or reading, have students fill in the blanks or
add their own notes to enhance what you have outlined already.
Example of when I would use this: During any lesson that has a lot of information, for example a
history lesson, science lecture, a reading of a textbook that has a lot of information that needs to
be remembered.
