Reading Response Sample

Dear Mrs. Boysen,

I just started the book we were talking about,

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. I was a little nervous going into
this book, because after the first couple chapters, I
learned the main character, Brian, was in an airplane crash.
Thats right- AN AIRPLANE CRASH. AHHH! Then, as you
may remember, I had to fly to visit my aunt last weekend. I
was so nervous but I kept reading my book during the flight
and it gave me a sense of relief.
After about half way through, Brian had to overcome
an injury, a death of the pilot, surviving off of berries and
fish and small game. During my flight, I was reading these
things and I thought Well, at least if we do get injured, I
know how to survive off the land, like Brian did in the book.
Lets just say I cant put it down and cant wait to read
the next books in Gary Paulsens series (like we talked about
in class the other day.) Thanks for reading my response and
Ill let you know how his story ends.
