Problem Discussion
Technology is undeniably invaluable in day to day life. Whether for business, personal use,
education or any other of a number of uses, it produces a lot of good. Social media can also be
helpful, regular interaction through the internet has been shown to improve communication, social
engagement, and technical skills (American Academy of Pediatrics). However, due to the fact that
children and teenagers are more susceptible to impulsive actions and peer pressure and the results
of that tend to be permanent on the internet. Additionally, harmful behavior such as bullying and
clique-forming, and issues with privacy may outweigh the benefits listed above.
Intended Audience
This report will be directed to children and teenagers, as well as their parents. Any effective
solution to the issues associated with children and technology will require effective discourse
between parents and their children. Informing children and teenagers about the risks and
permanency associated with posting things on the internet could be an effective solution to the
problem.
Social media can be beneficial for children and teenagers; however there are also substantial risks
associated with posting anything on the internet, especially sensitive personal data. This paper will
explore the issues associated with social media, and will provide potential solutions to mitigate
these issues. Both the parents and the children/teenagers will be intended audience.
