Marketing & Events Internship

ORGANIZATION
Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI), is a nonprofit 501(c)3 nonprofit membership organization established in 1982 to build better
communities by providing assistance to downtowns, commercial districts and town centers in Colorado. DCI works closely with local
governments, downtown development authorities, urban renewal authorities, business improvement districts and local Main Street
programs in education, technical assistance, advocacy, information distribution and other collaborative efforts. DCI utilizes an
approach that advocates a return to community self-reliance, local empowerment, and the rebuilding of central business districts
based on their traditional assets of unique architecture, personal service, local ownership, and a sense of community.
DCI is seeking an organized and detail-oriented self-starter with exceptional communications skills who shares our passion for
community-building and is eager to gain hands-on experience in marketing, event planning, community development, and nonprofit
work. This position starts September 21, 2015 through January 25, 2016, will be 16-18 hours per week and is located as 1420 Ogden
St. Suite G-1, Denver, CO. Upon successful completion of four month internship the intern will receive a stipend of $2000.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Assist in marketing membership services and events
Writing of marketing collateral as needed; this may include brochures, press releases, event and job announcements,
newsletters, and web content
Managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and blogging
Assisting with the planning of educational events, including a 3-day annual conference with coordination of 30+ speakers
Providing general project and event support
Administrative support including: filing, mailings, invoicing, and answering of phone
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must know all Microsoft Office applications well
Excellent writing, editing and communications skills required
Excellent attention to detail required
Website content and social media network management experience helpful
Must maintain professionalism at all times
Graphic design (InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUp and GIS) experience helpful
