Master informed on their relevant contents?

Was a log entry made by the Master showing the following data:
a. Anticipated navigational draught?
b. Controlling depth, including at the facility or anchorage?
c. Anticipated under-keel clearance estimated for the transit?

Was the main engine confirmed ready by the Duty Engineer and the Master informed
accordingly?

7. Were the Emergency Generator and Emergency Lighting tested and performance/result of
tests recorded in the relevant logbooks?
8. Was the following equipment checked / tested ready for use?

a. Log book/bridge movement book/course and engine movement recorder


b. Echo Sounder
c. Electronic navigational position fixing systems
d. Gyro / Magnetic compasses and repeaters (including lighting)
e. Radars and ARPA
f. Speed/distance recorders/indicators
g. Communications facilities, including:

Bridge to engine room / unmooring station(s)

Portable radio sets for internal communications

External radio communications

h. Navigation and signal lights, including searchlights, signaling lamp, morse light
i. Sound signaling apparatus, including whistles, fog bell and gong system
j. Window wipers/clearview screen arrangements
k. Clocks

14. Were pre-departure security procedures observed as per SSP requirements?

Were the Deck and Engine Room Pre-Sailing Check Lists satisfactorily completed, and the
results of the checks positively reported by the responsible officers?

16. Are cargo details and stability information available on the bridge?

PART 2 SOLAS STEERING GEAR INSPECTION
(SOLAS CH. V REG. 19.2)
Checks/tests to be carried out by a responsible officer within 12 hours before departure from port or
anchorage. The results of tests must be positively reported to the Master before manoeuvring.

oil leaks?

Control panels in Bridge switched on and without any alarms active?

Control panels in Engine Control Room switched on and without any alarms active?

Control panels in Steering Gear Room switched on and without any alarms active?

Emergency power supply switched on at the Emergency Generator Room?

g.

Synchronization of gyro compasses and repeaters, including the Steering Gear Room
repeater?

h.

Oil level in the service tank(s) adjusted to maximum level? (1)

i.

Oil level in the emergency storage tanks adjusted to maximum level? (1)

3. Have the following been tested and found in good working order?
a.

Indicating lamps and sound alarms on the control & alarm panels in the Bridge, Engine
Control Room and Steering Gear Room?

b.

The timing of rudder movement from hardover-to-hardover to ensure consistency with


previous tests?

c.

Remote start/stop operation of steering gear pumps?

d.

Port/Starboard System Selector?

e.

Full movement of rudder in Manual and NFU modes?

f.

Rudder indicators against the actual position of rudder?

g.

Local emergency steering in the Steering Gear Room
