INTRODUCTION:

Established in 1947.

Has the responsibility of generating, cultivating and


promoting building science and technology in the service of
the country.

Has been assisting the building construction and building


material industries in finding timely, appropriate and
economical solutions to the problems of materials, rural and
urban housing, energy conservation, efficiency, fire hazards,
structural and foundation problems and disaster mitigation.

NATIONAL BUILDING ORGANISATION

INTRODUCION:
Established in 1954 as an attached office under the ministry of
housing and urban poverty alleviation for technology transfer,
experimentation, development and dissemination of housing
statistics. In the context of formulation of housing policy and
programmes, study of socio-economic aspects of housing issues
and the increased need for housing statistics.

NATIONAL BUILDING ORGANISATION

OBJECTIVES:
To collect, validate, analyse, disseminate and publish the housing and
building construction statistics.
To organize training programs for the officers and staff of the state
government engaged in collection and dissemination of housing and building
construction statistics.
To create and manage a documentation centre relating to housing, poverty,
slums and infrastructure related statistics.
To coordinate with all the state govts/research institutions/ international
bodies etc. As being a nodal agency in the field to cater to the statistical needs
of the planners, policy makers and research organization in the field of
housing and related infrastructural facilities .
To conduct regular short term sample surveys in various pockets of the country to
study the impact of the plan schemes, which are being run by the Ministry. At least
two such studies will be conducted in a year.

SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH


COUNCIL
INTRODUCION:

Established in 1974.
Assisted by Programme Advisory Committees (PACs) in various disciplines
of Science & Engineering.
OBJECTIVES:

To promote research in newly emerging and frontier areas of science and


engineering including multidisciplinary fields.
To selectively promote the general research capability in relevant areas of
science and engineering taking into account capability of the host
institutions.
To encourage young scientists to take up challenging R&D activities.
To give special encouragement to active scientists from relatively small and
less endowed University Departments and Institutions.

CENTRAL ROAD RESEARCH INSTITUTE


INTRODUCION:

Established in 1948.

Engaged in carrying out research and development projects on design,


construction and maintenance of roads and runways, traffic and
transportation planning of mega and medium cities.

Management of roads in different terrains, improvement of marginal


materials, utilization of industrial waste in road construction, landslide
control, ground improvements environmental pollution, road traffic
safety and analysis & design, wind, fatigue, corrosion studies,
performance monitoring/evaluation, service life assessment and
rehabilitation of highway & railway bridges.

INDIAN PLYWOOD INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH &


TRAINING INSTITUTE
INTRODUCION:

Established in 1962.
Conducting Research and imparting Training and advice to reduce pressure
on natural forests.
OBJECTIVES:

To undertake research to enlarge service life of wood and wood products,


optimize wood volume in end use and reduce wastage in conversion as
well as in application.
To advice on standardization of wood and wood products.
To impart training to improve skills, upgrade product quality and optimize
production cost.

REGIONAL RESEARCH LABORATORY


INTRODUCION:

Established in 1961.
To develop indigenous technologies by utilising the immense natural
wealth of India.

OBJECTIVES:

Development of agro-technologies for important medicinal and aromatic


plants.

Process development for pesticides

Multiplication of some medicinal perfumery and endangered plant species


by tissue culture

Process development for speciality papers and boards including


thermographic paper, carbon less copy paper, direct copy paper, carbon

RESEARCH INSTITUTE
INTRODUCION:

Provide scientific, industrial research and development that maximizes the


economic & environmental and social benefit for the people of India.

INTRODUCION:

Deals with field and laboratory investigations, basic and applied research
on problems in geomechanics, concrete technology, construction
materials and associated environment issues.
OBJECTIVES:

To carry out basic and applied research in the fields of geomechanics, material
sciences, concrete technology and allied areas which have a vital bearing on
the irrigation and power development of the country.

OBJECTIVES:

To promote a sound, healthy, viable and cost effective housing


finance system to cater to all segments of the population and to

COOPERATION OF INDIA

INTRODUCION:
The IFCI Ltd., the first development finance institution (DFI)
in India, was established on July 1, 1948 under IFCI act.
IFCIs main objective was to provide medium-to-long term
financialassistance to industrial enterprises engaged in
manufacturing and other specified industrial activities.

Established in 1955.
The Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India Limited
(ICICI) incorporated at the initiative of the World Bank, the
Government of India and representatives of Indian industry, with
the objective of creating a development financial institution for
providing medium-term and long-term project financing to Indian
businesses.
1969 : The first two regional offices in Calcutta and Madras set up.

Established in the year 1991.

It includes studies and surveys, seminars and workshop and the extremely popular CONSTRO
Exhibitions.

P.C.E.R.F. has built close bonds with all the engineering and architectural colleges, technological &
professional organizations, local government departments, state and national government
organizations.
The results of the interaction among these show positive guidelines for the development of the
industry by helping students and professionals with valuable research contributions.
In addition the CONSTRO Exhibitions have helped to build bridges between the industry and the

BUILDING CENTRES :

The Ministry of Urban Development and HUDCO had decided to launch a national programme of setting
up a network of building centres all over the country for promoting innovative cost-effective technologies
and training artisans. Most importantly, they would offer affordable housing solutions.
These building centres were expected to be autonomous societies under the managerial control of a
combination of public institutions and professionals.
HUDCO initiated a dialogue with DDA (Delhi Development Authority) - Slum Wing, to collaborate in
setting up a building centre in Delhi in order to improve its own perceptions and to create a model, where
visitors from various states in India could get inspired. The Slum Wing made land available in Sarai Kaley
Khan, Nizamuddin. The Nizamuddin building centre was developed on this site.
