Social responsibility means that organizations


are part of a larger society and are accountabl
e to that society for their actions. Like ethics, ag
reement on the nature and scope of social respons
ibility is often difficult to come by, given the diversi
ty of values present in different societal, business,
and corporate cultures.

the communities in which its stores are located a
nd to the environment.

Also contributing to CARE a world wide relief effo


rt that sponsored health, education, and humanit
arian aid programs in all third world countries wh
ere they purchased coffee supplies.

Ethical sourcing: To develop strong, long-term rel


ationships with farmers to ensure that they buy t
he high-quality coffee. By 2015, their coffee will b
e grown using ethical trading and responsible gro
wing practices.

Environmental Stewardship: By 2015, 100% of the


ir cups will be reusable or recyclable and reduce
environmental footprint through energy and wat
er conservation, recycling and green conservation

Community Involvement: They believe in being in


volved in the communities they are part of bringi
ng people together, inspiring change and making
a difference in peoples lives.

By 2015, they plan to contribute one million volu


nteers hours each year to communities.
