Annotations for Focus area 5.

2I use a range of verbal and

written strategies to provide
timely and appropriate feedback
to students about their learning.
Throughout lessons, I frequently
convey positive feedback
verbally as students complete
tasks. I find that this provides
encouragement and creates a
sense of achievement in my
students. I provide written
feedback in workbooks and
worksheets using a method
called plus/delta (circled). This
method was introduced to me
by my supervising teacher. A +
is first written and accompanied
by a comment acknowledging a
positive aspect of the students
work. A delta sign (triangle
symbol) is written underneath
and accompanied by a
suggestion on how the student
can improve. This method
provides constant
encouragement and allows
students to focus on their work
for the future.

Annotations for
Focus area 5.2- In
addition to the
+/delta method, I
like to include
positive
reinforcement, such
as Great! or
Excellent! next to
students work. I feel
as this increases the
students
confidence and
reminds them that
their work is valued.
