ANTECEDENT ERROR
The noun to which the pronoun refers to is known as its antecedent. The pronoun must have a clear antecedent.
Whenever there is an ambiguity regarding a clear antecedent for a pronoun, there would be an error.
Eg. After putting the disk in the cabinet, Mayank sold it.
Can you make out what is the antecedent of the It in the above sentence? That is, what does
It refer to?
As there is an ambiguity, it is an incorrect usage.
The correct usage would be:
After putting the disk in the cabinet, Mayank sold the cabinet.
Eg. The supervisors told the workers that they would receive a bonus.
Can you infer to whom do They refer to?

1. When 2 or more singular nouns are joined by and, the pronoun used for them must be plural.
Eg. Ruma and Hari worked hard. They have now gone home.
*But when 2 singular nouns joined by and refer to the same person/thing, the pronoun used must be singular.
Eg. The secretary & treasurer is negligent of his duties.* (I recognized that the treasurer and secretary are the same person
because a single determiner is used (the)... were the sentence written like: The secretary and the treasurer, then it would
have meant 2 persons.)
2. When 2 singular nouns joined by and are preceded by each and every, the pronoun must be singular.
Eg. Each student must fill his form.
3. No reflexive pronoun can be used until the subjective noun/pronoun has been mentioned earlier.
Eg. You will hurt yourself.
