Comenius Project Whistling to school.

Staff Room
Each school were tasked with the problem
of making their teachers room / staff room
a happier place to work, study, and relax in.

In our school the staff room is the main

area in which we communicate about pupils,
school issues and learn more about our
colleges. Having visited all the schools
apart from Portugal it is evident that the
staff room is at the heart of all the
participating schools.

People come to de-brief and de-stress in

this environment. We as a staff decided to
do a survey on the use and productivity of
our staff room. I asked what they liked

and disliked about it, what they would do to

improve it. I received some very
interesting feedback. With all staff
viewing our staff room as a positive
environment to work in.

Many small things were suggested to

change our staff room, such as a water
cooler, comfier chairs, high tables, a
whiteboard to display notices. Many of
these things have been altered but it is an
evolving process.

Our principal decided it would be a good

idea to upgrade our kitchen facilities which
brought great happiness to the staff.
Essentially all these things are superficial
and over time will be altered and changed.

However the one things that remains the

constant is the staff, if the staff are
happy, communicating, enjoy each others
company and work well as a team, the dcor
and interiors of any given room does not
matter but the people within.
