Lisa

On the day you were born, we lived on Park Avenue. I wasnt

feeling very good that morning, so I asked Bob to stay home
with me. Jim and Loretta werent in school yet. Bob was scared
to death. He called dad at the office around 10:30 a.m. He was
home by 11:30 a.m. My pains werent regular yet, but I knew I
was going to go. Supper time came and I was still at home
groaning. Dad and Linda made hot dogs and French fries. I
didnt eat. It started raining then storming. It was about 6:30
p.m. and still kind of light out. Jimmy French was there and
wished be luck. Dad drove us to the hospital. You were born
about 9:45 p.m. and you were a beautiful baby girl. I named you
Lisa after Lisa on As The World Turns and Marie after Aunt
Marie. The rest is history.

Linda
It was a HOT summer day. I had trouble sleeping that night. About
9:00 p.m. I awoke not feeling good and having sharp pains. New you
were coming. You were born before midnight about 10:30 or 11:00
p.m. First thing I asked was what did I have, they said, a little girl. I
was so happy, I cried. My dad was in Oklahoma and mamma called
him to have him come home and help take care of Larry and Bob. He
did and he visited me in the hospital (Bethesda). We had decided
long before you were ever born our first baby girl would be named
Linda Anne. And the rest is history.

Bob
You were born the day after Thanksgiving. We had been to Maggie
and Babes for dinner. They lived o n Hickory and California. We had
a big dinner and it was getting late. We thought we better get h ome.
Babe says ok, Ill drive you home and dad says no well walk home
the walk will do her good and by golly it sure the hell did. I went to
the hospital the next night and you were born about 11:00 p.m. I
didnt know what in the world I was gonna name you. Dr. Wentzel
called in a young assistant named Robert to help him and I asked Dr.
Wentzel what his first name was and he said Louis. And the rest is
history.

Rita
It was a cold day. Snow and ice on the ground. It was about 3 or 4 in
the afternoon. I started getting pains and I new you were coming. I
had to take a crap, but our toilet was in the basement and I didnt
want to go down there and freeze, so I went up to Grandma Clarks. I
left the biggest turd you ever want to see in there. It was around 8:00
p.m. I knew I had to get to the hospital, but didnt have a car. So
Peggy, Emils sister in law took us up to the hospital. You were born
about 10:30 p.m. When you were born, your naval cord was wrapped
around your neck and the doctor stopped you from being born, right
at your elbows so he could unwrap the cord. He had to cut me and
he accidentally cut your elbow. It was your first wound. You were a
pretty baby. I named you Nancy Elizabeth because I thought I liked
it. But your God mothers name was Rita and she was also pregnant.
She lost her baby about a month before I had you. When I went to
get your baptized, I told father her name is Nancy, but I am going to
have her name changed to Rita. So he said ok and put Rita on your
baptismal certificate. We had taken out and insurance policy on you
and the insurance man put Rita E. on the paperwork. When I
enrolled you in school, the only thing with your name on it that I had
was that insurance policy. Therefore I had to enroll you as Rita E.
The rest is history.

Larry
I went to the clinic at old Deloge Hospital. Dr. said Oh, you got
another couple weeks to go. This was 12/21. So, I walked home,
about 5 blocks. I sat my purse by mammas victrola and my water
broke. I didnt know what had happened and I yelled for mamma, she
was in the bathroom. She came running out she thought someone
had gotten ahold of me. She says oh, your water broke. So my
daddy had one of his old drunken cronies take me up to the hospital.
I never had one labor pain. I stayed all night until the next day. The
nurse that treated me the night before came in the next day and she
says, oh your still havent had that baby? She says, Ill fix that. She
brought me in a huge glass of caster oil a glass of oj and 2 little white
pills. She told me to drink it. That was the most horrible thing I ever
had in my life. I no sooner drank that stuff and they took me into the
labor room. No pain. It was great. Then, they started giving me
anesthesia. I barely came to one time and heard them repeating its
a breach, its a breach. They gave me some more stuff and I fell
back asleep. I woke up again and I heard you crying. I said is that
my baby and they said yes. I fell back asleep. I awoke to someone
shaking my arm saying Mil, Mil, wake up. It was your dad. The Red
Cross had sent him home from the service to be with me. I didnt
know he was coming home. I had to ask him what we had because I
still didnt know. He said a oy. I didnt name you after anyone. We
both just agreed on Lawrence Lee. I was in that hospital for 10 days.
The rest is history.

Joe
I woke up at 3:00 in the morning on 1/1. I woke dad up and told him
were having this baby, its coming. He said, yeah, yeah you said that
last week. We got up, got dressed and called a cab. We got to the
hospital at 6:40 a.m. and you were born at 7:14 a.m. You werent
named after anyone we just agreed on it. And the rest is history.

Loretta
You were a stubborn one. I woke up one morning about 4:00 a.m.
and couldnt go back to sleep. Was spotting. About 7:00 p.m., it was
still day light. I called the doctor and was told he wasnt in. Talked to
his house keeper she said go to the hospital when I felt like it. The
doctor had fallen and hurt his hip and wouldnt be able to help me.
So, we get to the hospital and Im really in hard labor now. They
wanted to give me an inema. I said I cant do it, the baby will be born
right in the bed pan. But she says, oh no no, you will be ok. She
says let me take a look and she does and she says oh my, she is
right there. There were a couple of interns standing outside of my
door arguing who was going to have to deliver you. This young good
looking Dr., he looked like a Greek God, he delivered you and it didnt
take long. Had no anesthesia, not even an aspirin. You felt like you
were three feet long. My Aunt Pearl, her husband had a niece named
Loretta Ellen and I thought that was a pretty name. But Neal didnt
like Ellen, so it was Loretta Marie. And the rest is history.

James P. Clark
I was up all night the night before you were born. I thought you were
going to be a breach. I couldnt sleep. You tossed and turned and
did everything you possibly could do to me. About 6:00 a.m., dad got
up and got ready for work. I said, are you going to leave me here in
this shape? He says, no, Im going to take you to the hospital. You
were born about 8:00 a.m. Picked your name out of the hat. I didnt
know where dad was. He wasnt at the hospital, so I called Webbers
Tavern. Mr. Webber said he went to work. So, I told him when he
comes in, tell him we have a new baby boy. So, The mail man come
into Webbers and Webber told him we had a new baby boy. So
every house the mailman to, he told them we had a new baby boy.
So everybody in town new about you before your dad did. The rest is
history.

KAY KAY
Sunday morning I woke up and new you were on the way. All day
was just touch and go. Nothing to get excited about until about 6:00
p.m. I started heavy labor and about 8:30 p.m. told dad we better go.
Left and Linda and James bought some junk for the kids and stayed
with them. Got to the hospital and I said is Dr. here yet, they said he
is washing up. The wanted me to lay down. But I said, if I lay down
this baby is coming out. I laid down when Dr. came in and it wasnt
two minutes and you were there. In the mean time, dad leaves to go
home. But they paged him over the intercom and caught him before
he got out the door. So he came upstairs to meet his new baby
daughter. Catherine was picked out of the air, but Jean was after
your God mother. The rest is history.
