Unit Topic: Soccer


Achievement standards: This lesson will aim to meet
the following achievement standards.
They apply and transfer movement concepts and strategies to new and challenging
movement situations. They apply criteria to make judgments about and refine their
own and others specialised movement skills and movement performances. They work
collaboratively to design and apply solutions to movement challenges.

Lesson Objectives:

students develop tactical knowledge around where to


receive the ball and where to play the ball. There will be an emphasis on moving into
space in offense and also a development of defensive positioning.

LESSON OUTLINE

Students are in a confined area with
a ball and have to from clumps when
a body part and number is called.
e.g. five hands.

Activity One
Dribbling with both feet.
Dribbling in confined space
Dribbling with outside of foot.
Students are in a confined area
where the work on their dribbling and Rolling the ball.

Square passing. Students pass the


ball around the outside of a marked out
square. They compete to get the ball
around five times. There are only three
students so they will have to move into
the free space.

Activity Three
3v1 / 3 v 2
In a confined space students aim to
find the free person in offence. If the
defence intercepts the ball, they

become an offensive player.

Activity four
Run through with defence.
Students in groups of three run through
a marked field of play where there are
three zones, in each zone there are two
defenders. The aim is to score a goal in
the last zone.

Game
Half field soccer game to emphasize
moving into offensive and defensive
positions.
Conclusion/ Pack up

The two students that dont shoot


for goal become the defenders in
the last zone. Each other group of
defenders move one zone
forward.
Two groups going at a time.
