Guidelines for Science Fair Background Research Paper

THIS IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PROJECTS BEFORE DESIGNING AN EXPERIMENT


The research plan for a science fair project includes a literature search and all background
information needed to develop a testable question.
Choose a topic (not a project) that you would like to study. Think about why you chose that topic
and what information would be important to know about it before you begin experimentation.

Use various reliable scientific literature books and websites (do not use Wikipedia), you
should have at least three reliable resources in your bibliography
Gather background information related to your topic.
Be detailed and complete
Write a 2 page (double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman) paper
Bibliography including at least three reliable sources.

Make sure to check for correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.


Research Paper due date: _____October 19, 2015_____________
The research paper will count as a quiz grade. It will be graded for completeness, accuracy,
relevance, as well as spelling and grammar.

Plagiarism: The unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another
author and the representation of them as one's own original work, as by not crediting the author.
