Costa Rica is a democratic republic,
defined by the constitution, which
guarantees all citizens equality
before the law, to own properties, &
the right of petition and assembly,
and its controlled by Luis
GuillermoSolis.

Location
Costa Rica is a Central American
country bounded by North Pacific
Ocean in the west and the Caribbean
Sea in the east. Its land boundary is
with Nicaragua in the north and
Panama in the south and south east.

The Costa Rican Colon is
the currency of Costa
Rica. The most popular

Tourism
Costa Rica is known for its

beaches, volcanoes and


immense biodiversity. Roughly a
quarter of its area is made up of
protected jungle, rich with
wildlife including spider monkeys
and quetzal birds.

The history of Costa Rica runs from
pre-Colombian times with wandering
Indian tribes, to colonial disputes, to
modern democracy. While the
remains of indigenous tribes are few
and far between, visitors can still
discover relics of the past in
museums and a handful of historic
sites

Population

During 2015 Costa Rica population is estimated to be


increased by 65 352 people and reach 5 061 683 in the
beginning of 2016. The natural increase is expected to be
positive, as the number of births will exceed the number of
deaths by 61 005. If external migration will remain on the
previous year level, the population will be increased by 4
347 due to the migration reasons. It means that amount of
people who moves into Costa Rica (to which they are not
native) in order to settle there as permanent residents
(immigrants) will prevail over the amount of people who
leaves the country to settle permanently in another country
(emigrants).

Language
The official language spoken in Costa
Rica is Spanish. The Spanish spoken
in Costa Rica differentiates itself from
other Spanish speaking countries by
the slower pace at which it is spoken
and its clear pronunciation.

Culture

Costa Rican culture has been heavily
influenced by Spanish culture ever
since the Spanish colonization of the
Americas including the territory
which today forms Costa Rica.

Food
Gallo Pinto, which has a literal
meaning of spotted chicken, is the
national dish of Costa Rica. It
consists of rice and beans stir-fried
together in a pan to create a
speckled appearance. It is usually
served for breakfast along with
scrambled or fried eggs and sour
cream or cheese.
