2 DISCUSSION
In this organoleptic test, semi-solid dosage form (ointment) are not too hard,
yellowish-white and odorless. This test purpose is to to see the phase changes of semisolid dosage forms
Homogeneity test is intended to determine the homogeneity of the active substance in
the base, so that every time the experiment of ointment is used the same dose will be
used. In addition, the homogeneity test is to see if there are drugs that are too coarse(big)
particles which can irritate the skin. Homogeneity can also be influenced by fine milling
is done at the time of manufacture. At this homogeneity test, formula ointment
(chloramphenicol) showed a homogeneous(smooth) on glass objects, which is no seen or
presence of the tiny particles that make ointment feels rough.
Leakage test is intended to determine a leak in the tube. At this lab former ointments
packed in tubes that have been cleared through the bottom of the tube. In the test tube
leak turns used leaked where absorbent paper used to be wet after a leak test. this is
happen because the practicant is not a skilled practitioner in the former tube cleaning and
unskilled in the folded tube which one of the cause of the leaking.

5.2 Suggestions
When formulating a preparation of an ointment , practitioner should really pay
attention to the characteristics of materials, the concentration of the material, and
nature of each of the materials as well as the interaction between the material likely
very common occurs. Thus , a formulated preparation will produce a preparation that
is really safe and efficacy to use and to minimize reduce the shortcomings or
weakness of the cream preparation.

Besides that , other factors to consider is the manufacturing process,. Taking into
account which is the characteristics, concentration and interaction of each material
when conducting and experiment . A practitioner must be able to design and create
the best possible working procedure according to the provisions, so that preparations
can be made to meet the standards of evaluation set.
