Lesson Focus: Game play- Basketball.

# of students: 20 students

Equipment and Facilities: 2 full size basketball courts


(4 hoops, 10 basketballs, 10-20 jerseys, 10 hula
hoops, 5 basketball hoops,

Safety Considerations: Students will be advised to


keep their heads up and be aware of their
surroundings when in limited space. Students will be
told to not throw the equipment in an inappropriate
manner or shoot a ball when it is not their turn. The
teacher will make sure that there is adequate personal
space for each student during the activities.

Lesson Specifics

dribbling, defense, and shooting with 75% proficiency
Cognitive (C): Students will understand the game and rules of basketball when playing
against their classmates
H-R Fitness (H): Students will be engaged in moderate to vigorous physical activity at least
75% of the time and should be increasing their heart rates during the activity.

Instant Activity: Basketball Hoop


Knockout
Students will pick a partner. One
partner will have a ball and one
partner will have a hula- hoop.
The person with the hula- hoop can
place their hula- hoop anywhere in
the court, but once it is placed it
cannot move. Their partner will
dribble around the court avoiding
the other players in the hula- hoop
trying to knock their ball away.
After a few minutes they will switch.
Set Induction:
Today we are going to have a lot of
fun applying all the skills we have
learned this week into a mini
basketball game.
Purpose:
Practice passing, dribbling,
shooting, and defense with their
team before applying the skills to a
real game. It is a quick warm up

to start the 5 v5. One team will have
to wear the pennies.
Rock paper scissors who will start
with the ball.
Will play for 3 minutes each then
switch teams.
There are no free throws when there
is a foul.
If the ball is out of bounds, give it to
the other team. Be honest.

ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES: While students are demonstrating their dribbling, passing, and defense COTS
within their groups, the teacher will assess the students techniques using a formal assessment. The group who
is spotted doing the technique correctly will be used as a demonstration.
