Bloodroot

The plant type of the bloodroot is Herbaceous perennial. It’s family is Papaveraceae. It’s native range is
Eastern North America. The height of the bloodroot is 0.5 to 0.75ft., and the spread is 0.25 to 0.5ft. The
bloom time for this plant os between March and April in rich woods. Bloodroot is a stemless, rhizomatous.
It is a white flower with numerous yellow centered stamens. It has a bright redddish-orange sap. The
seeds have a fleshy organ called elaiosome. Bloodroot is hermaphroditic. Bloodroot has the capability too
facultatively xenogamous.

Habitiats include mesic deciduous woodlands, either in wooded areas with slopes (ravines, bluffs, valley
bottoms), or wooded areas where the ground is reasonably level.
