SPANISH CLASS

Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spanish I class! This is an introductory course to both the Spanish
language and the cultures where the Spanish language is spoken. Students will learn basic
vocabulary and grammar structures as well as general information about the cultures of Spanishspeaking countries. While is important for you to study vocabulary and produce the language,
our approach will also target the exploration and deeper understanding of the Spanish language.
This class requires a considerable amount of practice and also involves working with others and
speaking Spanish. As a student in this class, you are expected to follow some procedure that will
help the class to run smoothly and enhance your learning experience.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be in your seat working on the activity, when the bell rings.
2. Do not interrupt any teacher or student class presentations.
3. Keep your desk and area clean of any trash.
4. No food, drinks, candy, or gum.
5. Be respectful, of others at all times. Verbal abuse of anyone, vulgar language or
hitting/slapping will not allow.
Consequences:
When a class disruption occurs the name of the student will receive a mark on the teachers
discipline list. Each additional disruption will add additional marks. The names marked on the
teachers list will remain there for the completion of the current 3-week grading period. The
consequences will be:
1ST Consequence: written behavior mark.
2ND Consequence; Written behavior mark, temporary loss of class privileges.
3RD Consequence: Class Detention, parental contact, and behavior mark.
4Th consequence: Class detention, possible office referral, written behavior mark.
Severe Clause: Immediately sent to the assistant principal for rude, loud,
obscene, or disrespectful behavior toward a teacher, aide or fellow student. A
definite zero for the daily participation grade will be given.
Classroom privileges:
Good class participation, no negative behavior marks on the discipline list, one tardy or less
in a nine week period, one absence or less in a three week period 100% class work and
homework completed, a 75 or above grade average, no detention halls, will result in one or
more of the following:
1. Positive notes home.
2. A consequence erased.
3. Special privileges (late work pass, bathroom pass, out of class pass)
4. Drop lowest daily/quiz grade.
5. For 68,69 and similar grades, up to 2 points added onto the 9 weeks grade.
6. Up to four homework late passes, per each 9 weeks.
