I am excited to begin the new school year together. We will be learning proficiency based Spanish in some very imaginative and hands-on ways this year. So do your best, relax and enjoy. The following are some important things you should know about the class: Required Class Materials 1. Pen or Pencil. 2. Class handouts/papers. Homework *This class is academic. This means that you will be required to do some homework and studying at home (about 5-10 minutes a couple of times a week). Papers will be checked in class or turned in as indicated. Classroom Rules 1. Listen when others are talking and follow directions. 2. Enter and leave the classroom in an orderly fashion. Be in your seat when the class begins and wait for me to dismiss you when class is over. 3. Raise your hand to speak. 4. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. 5. Be respectful of everyone in the classroom and of the objects in the classroom. No put-downs. All students need to feel safe enough to try new sounds/activities. The teacher needs to be able to teach and the students need to be able to learn. When a rule is broken, the possible consequences might include the following:

1st consequence- verbal warning 2nd consequence- an after class conversation Further possible consequences are call home or e-mail to the parents/guardians, a special conference with parents Classroom Procedures 1. In order to learn Spanish, participate when called upon. 2. Bathroom breaks should be taken between classes. 3. Keep desks clean and free of writing. Alert me a.s.a.p. if there is writing on your desk so that you will not be held responsible (or just erase it). 4. Read the board for assignments and notice of quizzes/tests/projects. Mark them in your planner. Also check for those on my website www.spanishclague.weebly.com 5. If you do not understand something, ask for help! 6. Stop all activity when you hear the quiet signal. 7. Food and drink are not allowed in the class (unless it is a fiesta/food activity day). Gum is allowed as long as it isnt seen or heard and goes in the WASTE BASKET ONLY when you are done.

I have read and understand the classroom procedures. _________________________ Student signature __________________________ Parent/Guardian signature
