Rules and Guidelines for Jr. High and High School

1. Login to the class and wait in the waiting room. The Teacher will let you in. Have your materials -
folder, writing implements, investigations, homework, presentations, etc.
2. Maintain video camera on the entire class.
3. We will be speaking full English in the class. Don’t feel frustrated. Listen and practice. You will
improve.
4. Attendance will be taken, so be on time. If you cannot enter or have an appointment, send a
handwritten excuse to TEAMS email (OUTLOOK) – ccastillo@colegiolasesclavas.edu.pa . You may not
leave without permission. Drink water, use the bathroom, etc. before logging in to class.
5. Prohibited to eat during class.
6. Raise your hand to participate using the hand icon. When you finish, remember to put the hand
down.
7. Listen attentively when others are talking. This means I am using my ears, I also look at the person,
and my hands are empty. I might ask you to repeat what your friend said so be prepared.
8. Prohibited to play in the screen, with the camera, or use backgrounds, so we don’t distract our
classmates.
9. Focus the camera to see a complete view of yourself from the top of the head to the shoulders. There
must be sufficient lighting in the face and not behind you.
10. Sit correctly in a chair as if in the Listening classroom.
11. Your parent or guardian must send a handwritten note or excuse to TEAMS email (OUTLOOK) –
ccastillo@colegiolasesclavas.edu.pa about any malfunctioning equipment: camera, microphone,
internet connection, etc.
12. Respect the differences in the levels of English. Prohibited to make fun of or comment when
someone makes a mistake.
13. Prohibited to mark on the screen when screen sharing. Be respectful and responsible.
14. Grades for the class: 1 oral, 1 listening, 1 attendance, 1 participation. These will be averaged for the
Daily Grade in MEREB. That average will be placed in the Test column and also in the
Appreciation column. That is the score averaged in with grammar and Dyned for your English grade.
15. Assigning of speeches will be in the calendar. If class is canceled all of the assignments move to the
following week of the chronogram.
16. Assignment not turned in on the assigned date will have a lower grade – which will start as a 4.5. Each
week the grade will be lowered: 4.0, 3.8, 3.6, 3.4, 3.2, 3.0, etc. Be responsible. At the end of the
trimester the empty assignment boxes in MEREB will be filled with 1.0.
17. If you are having difficulties, approach the teacher and talk. She will listen or find someone else.
