Procedures
1. The valves are opened to remove the unwanted liquid
2. The valves is closed.
3. The main switch is opened. The water supply is open to ensure there is cooling
system through out the experiment
4. The valve 8 is opened.
5. 0.1L methanol and 3L water are poured into evaporator through valve 1. The V! Is
closed
6. V13 and V14 is opened at level the sight tube. The liquid level is checked to be
above the safety line on the level sight tube. The valves V13 and V14 are closed.
7. Valve 10 is adjusted (open) to allow 5L/min of cooling water to flow through the
condenser.
8. The temperature at the controller TIC-01 is set to 100 C

9. The temperature rise is observed in TIC-01. The liquid in evaporator is boiled

when the temperature at T1-02 started to increase sharply, Pressure at PI-01 is
observed.
10. The temperature and pressure are recorded
11. The liquid and vapour sample is collected from the unit to be analyze. The
composition and refractive index of liquid and vapour samples are recorded.
12. The heater is switched off and the valve V!! Are open to allows coil in evaporator
to cool.
13. As the temperature drop to 50C, the valve V11 is closed.
14. The experiment is continued by using 0.4 L , 0.5 and 0.1 L methanol
15. The experiment is observed and the results are recorded.
