    On March 19, 2010 at 7:00 pm, police responded to a report of a purse snatching in the parking lot of a Food Lion grocery store. A woman stated that a white male in his mid-30s driving an older, dark colored car pulled up next to her vehicle and asked for directions. When she looked away, the man reached into her car and grabbed her purse. After a brief struggle, the purse strap broke and the man fled back to his car with the purse. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local police or Crimestoppers, where a cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available. The case remains under investigation.

    PURSE SNATCHING:
    On 03/19/2010 at 1900hrs police responded to the parking lot of Food Lion in Market Square,
    3351 North Main St., in reference to a purse snatching. Upon arrival the complainant stated
    that a dark colored older model car pulled up beside her and a white male approximately 6’ tall
    in his mid 30’s approached her vehicle and asked for directions. When she turned her head the
    man reached into her car and grabbed her purse. After a brief struggle over the purse the strap
    broke and the man got the purse and fled back to his car and left the area. This case is still
    under investigation.
