Frequency:
Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per
unit time. It is also referred to as temporal frequency, which
emphasizes the contrast to spatial frequency and angular
frequency

frequency =

1 /time period X 1000

Period;
The length of time in seconds that the wave form takes to repeat
itself from start to finish.
Time period =

1/Frequency X 1000

Amplitude;
The Magnitude or intensity of the signal wave form measured in
volts or amps.

Time:
The time required for the current or voltage in the circuit to rise
or fall.

Questions;

Given the wave form below, calculate the

various electrical parameters (period, frequency, amplitude )
Period:
=1/50= 0.02 X 1000= 20ms
Frequency:
=1/20= 0.5 X1000= 50hz
Amplitude:
= 6 Volts

Determine the frequency of a waveform having a period

of 1.4 milliseconds (1.4 ms)
Frequency:
= 1/1.4= 0.7 X 1000
=714.29

If an AC voltage has a frequency of 350 Hz, how long (in

time) is its period (remember T is the inverse of F)?
Time period:
= 1/350= 0.00286 X 1000
=2.857
