Rationale Practice

This must be complete before you submit in Chalk & Wire.

Consider this a practice activity for what you will be posting in Chalk & Wire.

Step 1: Restate the Standard

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take
responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues,
other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to
advance the profession.
As an educator, I should embrace a leadership role that makes me responsible for
student growth. I should also create a resource that allows students and parents to
keep up with the events and assignments of their child in my classroom.
Step 2: Identify your Artifact
(the Website screen shots, link, or collaborative lesson plan)
My artifact for standard 10 is a website I created using Weebly. Throughout the
semester I created a website that informs parents and students on the students
assignments and events and what we will be doing week to week. Within the website
there are different tabs. Tabs have information for parents to research educational
information or information about me. These tabs include: Links, contact information,
about me, and reflections. I completed this assignment Fall 2015 in Educational
Technology.
Step 3: Purpose of the Standard
As a future educator, standard 10 is important because I will be expected to
collaborate with students and their parents. I will want to collaborate with my future
students and their parents by informing them on assignments given to their students
during the semester so we can be on the same page. I will also want to collaborate on
different events throughout the semester. For this, I will keep the website updated
each week informing students and parents on the agenda for that week. This class
activity has prepared me for a future classroom and provided a way for me to interact
with students and their parents. This impacts my future students because I will now be
able to provide a way for them to keep up the progression of the semester. My
colleagues can check my website to keep up with what my class will be doing
throughout the semester.
Step 4: Analysis of the Artifact
Knowledge and Skills: My Weebly website meets the standard because I used a
website to engage my students, parents, and colleagues. Through this standard I
have learned how to provide a resource to keep parents and students informed. This
allows me to keep myself and others organized with what is going on in the
classroom. I have also learned how to manage a website and how to update it. I have

created a way to relay information about student growth to parents and colleagues
because that is my responsibility as an educator.
Disposition: In relation to this standard, I will work with students and their parents to
keep them updated on classroom activities. Practicing this standard has shown me a
different way to inform students and parents on progress, classroom activities, and
personal information about myself. This also taught me collaborating can be
approached in different ways. This impacts my future classroom because my students
will benefit from my ability to keep them informed and organized.
