RESPONDING TASK
SAT 2. Part 2.
Focus, Reflection and Evaluation:
PART A:
Art Making Visual Diary:
Similarly to the visual diary in Unit 3, you are required to document
and annotate your art-making process as you create your final art
pieces. This process folio will be marked in conjunction with your
final piece. It must include and have detailed annotation throughout
including:

The methods and processes you have undertaken to produce


your final pieces (including images, screen shots and

photographs of your work at different stages)


Any final tests of materials and techniques you undertook

during the process to create your piece


Draft works/initial sketches/mock-up pieces etc.
Any difficulties you have encountered and how you worked

around them
Anything else you believe to be an important part of your
personal art marking process

PART B:
Reflective Piece
Once you have completed your final art pieces and recorded the
processes employed to create them within your Visual Diary, you
are required to write a reflective essay (500 words), summing up

the experiences you gained throughout the entire art-making


practice using art language and terminology. You must also provide
an evaluation of the finished artworks you created, ensuring that
you state:

How you used your selected potential directions to lead you to

create your pieces


How and why you decided to depict the subject matter in the

way that you did


How you used materials and techniques to communicate your

ideas and themes


How you have used the art elements and aesthetics within

your folio of work


How you are to present your work to assist in the effective

communication of your themes


How relationships between your finished artwork are

established
If there is any further refinement to the possible directions o
produce your pieces.

PART C:
Artist Statement (150 words)
Once you have completed parts A and B, you are ready construct
your artist statement. An artist statement is a short piece of writing
that informs the viewer of the mediums and techniques used in the
artwork. It also provides them with an explanation of the themes,
subject matter and meanings within the featured art piece.
An artist statement is an entirely personal piece of writing that
needs to be comprehensive yet clear enough for anyone to grasp
the concepts of the work in a punchy and straightforward manner.
