MAKING TASK
SAT 2. Part 1.
Folio of Artworks:
By the end of the journey of creating your exploratory folio, you
have trialled, tested, discovered and developed new ideas, themes,
concepts, materials and techniques. You should now have a clear
and well-thought out understanding of the concept, theme and
mediums you will like to take your art making for Unit 4.
Using the knowledge and skills you have gained and developed in
Studio Arts Unit 3, SAT 2, Part 1, requires you to develop and create
a folio of work and produce no fewer than 2 finished artworks,
The finished artworks within your folio must demonstrate the
following (as written in VCAA, 2015, p. 4.):

Within your artworks, there must be a clear realisation and

communication of your individual ideas.

A connection of ideas between finished artworks.

Application of materials, techniques and processes to support

the resolution of ideas and aesthetic qualities.

An understanding of the inherent characteristics of materials,

techniques and processes and their relationship to the
depiction of subject matter.

Use of aesthetic qualities that contribute towards an

interpretation of subject matter and communicate ideas in the
finished artworks.

An application of art elements that contribute towards the

development and resolution of aesthetic qualities.

Understanding and appropriate use of materials, techniques,

processes and methods of presentation that demonstrates an
understanding of the students selected artform/s.

Your final pieces must also show:

Evidence of a comprehensive artistic journey that lead you to

produce you final folio of works

A creative and innovative use of artistic mediums and

techniques
A depth of thought into the aesthetic qualities of the works
Appropriate thought of the final presentation of the works

Revaluation of the Exploratory Proposal

At this point in your art-making journey, you may have shifted away
from some of the initial ideas you started with in the proposal
devised at the beginning of Unit 3.

As such, you are at liberty to slightly amend your initial proposal by

annotating the document with minor amendments in order to
update it with the direction you are taking.

You are not permitted to completely change your proposal (as you
should be working closely with it) but are permitted to alter it using
annotations to show your artistic development and progression.

The following page features an example of a top-scoring Studio Arts

Students Exploratory Proposal that has been annotated to indicate
and demonstrate changes what was stated in the original Proposal.
You may use this as a guide.

NOTE: If there are no dramatic changes to your proposal, this may

not be necessary.
