A vet is a medical professional who protects the
health and well-being of both animals and people.
They diagnose and control animal diseases and
treat sick and injured animals.
They also advice owners on proper care of their
pets and livestock.
In urban areas vets care for cats and dogs for the
most part.
The professional designation is Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine, (DVM).

veterinarians earned a

veterinary technologists

The BLS reports that veterinarians earned a


median salary of $86,640 in 2013. The best-paid
veterinarians earned $149,530, 287 while the
lowest-paid earned $53,270 Veterinarians
working in scientific research tend to be among
the highest paid. Top-paying metropolitan areas
include Honolulu; Santa Barbara, California; and
San Francisco.
