Ms. Paige Johannessen is a dynamic professional who was able to

clearly convey her passion for what she does through her energetic
presence and superb stories. I was fortunate to be there as she
offered her insight into what it takes to become a C.F.P. as well as
BEC Room 1305
what I can expect to experience in a real world work environment
as a C.F.P. She covered a range of topics including her experiences
at LSU, preparing and sitting for the C.F.P. exam, and current job
responsibilities.

Deloitte Pre-Interview Dinner

9/15/2015

9/15/2015

I was excited when I learned that Ms. Claire Loup, a representative

from the Fed, was coming to speak to my class. I felt much
anticipation about the knowledge and insights she would have to
BEC Room 1305 share, and I was not disappointed. Ms. Loups presentation was
well balanced, and the progression of subject matter worked well
for me as she moved from intentions and behaviors, to challenges
and influences, and finally into Habitudes.

This was a meet and greet style dinner. It was a formal, sit-down
dinner which did not afford anyone the opportunity to mingle
beyond the people next to us. Fortunately, I was able to speak to
two differenct recruiters. We covered some varying and interesting
topics. Time passed quickly and everyone seemed to be enjoying
themselves. I certainly did.

Today I interviewed for an audit position with Deloitte. The

interview consisted of two parts. During the first part, I was
interviewed by a manager. We covered several topics and I was
able to ask any questions I had. During the second part, I was
interviewed by a managing partner. The conversation was geared
around my work experience and how I handled differenct
scenarios. Although I was not called in for a second interview, this
was a fantastic experience, and I am glad that I went through the
process.

Juban's

This was a meet and greet dinner. Food was served buffet style in
order to allow everyone to easily mingle. I had several engaging
conversations with fellow students, KPMG associates, and
recruiters. I had a lenghty conversation with the managing partner
of the Baton Rouge office. Altogether, it was a very memorble and
enjoyable experience.

I interviewed with Sam, who I spoke with for several minutes the
night before at the pre-interview dinner. This was a good fit
interview. We discussed several topics from education, work, and
recreational. Near the end of the interivew, Sam even stated that
he thinks I am a good fit. Even though I was not called back for a
second interview, the experience was extremely educational in a
variety of areas.

Dr. Boyds presentation was beneficial to me as a student, financial

planner, and a consumer. He reeducated me on things I had long
forgotten, and introduced me to new information as well. The
most important takeaway for me was in the details related to how
BEC Room 1305 laws pertaining to auto insurance requirements and application
vary from state to state. As a financial planner, advising your client
to be upfront with their insurance provider and ensuring they
understand the implications of the different types of coverage
offered are paramount.

11/3/2015

Mr. Allen talked about Social Security and its usefulness. As a

financial planner, it is imperative to communicate the limitations of
BEC Room 1305 social security benefits to clients so that they understand that
social security is not designed to be used a retirement income, but
rather as a supplement to retirement income.

11/12/2015

As a CFP student, I found Mr. Schegas presentation informative,

relevant, and necessary in shaping my expectations for the career
ahead of me. The focus of the presentation was client
relationships, and how the most important aspect of these
relations is trust that is built upon honest communication that is
BEC Room 1305
for the benefit of the client instead of the agent. This is an
important concept to take to heart because it requires a powerful
commitment as your motives and trustworthiness is certain to face
much scrutiny due to the long and ongoing history of shady agents
in the finance industry.
