Age Of Taurus come from England and this is their first
release. The demo contains four tracks that show the bands love for
old school traditional doom metal, but also they insert some minor
elements from other genres that enrich their final sound.
The demo opens with Unto The Hour Of Death, an epic, slow
and dark song characterized by an excellent vocal performance,
definitely it is among the best songs released in 2010. The demo
continues with Unborn Destroyer, the band in this song shows a
variety of influences that go from the primitive proto doom of Pagan
Altar to the lyrical elegies of early Trouble. Barren that follows has
a more relaxed, rockier attitude but dont misunderstand my
description, the band doesnt stray into stoner fields, it just think
some of the less metallic moments of Saint Vitus, Pentagram or
Obsessed. The song surely has the potential to be a live anthem for
the band. The demo ends with The Age Of Taurus, a slow,
massive, primitive and brutal monster that many established bands
would wished for.
In conclusion, beside the fact that the band released one of
the best demos in 2010 (and with an excellent production), I also
liked the fact that they combine influences that cover the entire
spectrum of traditional doom, from Witcfinder General to While
Heaven Wept and everything between, without losing control. If you
are seriously into traditional doom, this is one of the best new bands
in
the
genre
and
you
can

soon.
