New Music Dublin is a five-year partnership between the Arts Council, RTÉ and the National Concert Hall to develop a contemporary music festival in Dublin, which has run successfully in 2013-2015. The steering group has decided to postpone the 2016 festival due to building works at the National Concert Hall and the involvement of RTÉ and NCH groups in Easter commemorative programs. Consideration was given to rescheduling in 2016 but maintaining the March dates was deemed better for the long-term interests of the festival. RTÉ and NCH will present a retrospective of Irish music in September 2016 as part of Ireland 2016 that will feature contemporary Irish music. Planning is underway for New Music Dublin to take place again in March 2017

New Music Dublin is a five-year (20132017) partnership
initiative between the Arts Council, RT and the National Concert Hall to develop a flagship contemporary music festival in Dublin. This partnership, with a steering group from RT, the National Concert Hall and the Contemporary Music Centre, has run three weekend festivals in March 2013, 2014 and 2015. The steering group of the New Music Dublin Festival has taken the decision to postpone the festival due to take place in March 2016. Key factors influencing this decision include scheduled building works at the National Concert Hall and the involvement of both RT Orchestras, Quartet and Choirs and the NCH in special commemorative programmes for Easter 2016. Consideration was given to the option of relocating to another time of year during 2016 but it has been decided that the long-term interest of New Music Dublin would be better served by maintaining its March dates. As part of the official programme for Ireland 2016, RT and the NCH will also be presenting a major retrospective of Irish music 'Composing the Island' in September 2016. which will include a significant presence for Irish contemporary music. Details of this series will be announced in January. Planning is in progress for New Music Dublin in March 2017. Issued on behalf of RT, the National Concert Hall and the Contemporary Music Centre
